Let's get started:

  1. Prepare the workspace by covering the floor with newspapers and ensuring children wear aprons. Choose a well-ventilated area, preferably outdoors on a nice day.

  2. Place a sheet of paper in the middle of the workspace.

  3. Arrange the space-themed cut-out shapes on the paper.

  4. Dip the toothbrush into the tempera poster paint and splatter it onto the paper, aiming for the shapes and the surrounding areas. Encourage children to use multiple colours for a vibrant effect.

  5. Carefully lift the cut-out shapes off the paper, revealing the splattered paint beneath.

  6. Allow the artwork to dry completely.

Tips:

  • For darker edges, splatter extra paint with the toothbrush very close to the edges of the shapes.

  • Encourage experimentation and creativity as children explore different splattering techniques.

  • Ensure supervision to avoid paint splatters on walls and curtains.

Splatter painting with stencils offers an exciting way for children to express their creativity and imagination. With a space-themed twist, this activity transforms into a thrilling adventure through the cosmos.
