Creative Sponge Painting
Creative Sponge Painting

Kids love this creative activity as much as they enjoy making the sponges themselves. It's a fantastic way to explore shapes, colours, and the magic of paint absorption.

What You'll Need:

  1. Small pieces of sponges or a sponge brush (kitchen, bath, or craft sponges work well)

  2. Super Tempera poster paint in small bowls or paint trays

  3. Scissors

  4. Plates or trays

  5. Paper

  6. Clothes pegs

  7. Permanent markers or crayons

  8. Apron and a cover sheet or newspapers

  9. Paper towels for clean-up

Let's Get Started:

  1. Put on the apron and lay down your cover sheet or newspapers to protect your workspace.

  2. Using a marker or crayon, draw shapes like hearts, stars, or flowers on the sponge. Cut out the shapes with scissors, creating a variety of interesting shapes.

  3. Attach each sponge piece to a clothes peg to create a handle. If you have coloured plastic pegs, try matching them to the paint trays for added fun.

  4. Aim to use one colour per sponge to keep the picture clear and vibrant.

  5. Dip the sponge into the paint, ensuring the bottom is evenly coated. Use it to brush or dab the paint onto the paper, creating pictures and patterns as you go.
