What You’ll Need:
A pencil compass
A thin paintbrush
Bright tempera like FAS Super Tempera or school paints
A palette or small cups for mixing paint
Thick paper or card
A cloth for wiping the brush
A container of water
Steps to Create Compass Paintings:
Set up the compass – Insert a thin paintbrush into the pencil holder of the compass where the pencil would normally go.
Dip the brush in paint – Choose a bright colour and dip the tip of the brush into the paint. Not too much, just enough to glide smoothly.
Draw circles – Place the compass point on the paper and carefully draw a circle using the paintbrush instead of a pencil.
Layer the colours – Try using different colours inside each other to create a rainbow or abstract effect.
Experiment with patterns – Overlap circles, mix colours, or add dots and lines to make the artwork unique.
Let it dry – Once finished, leave the painting to dry completely before displaying.
